June Birthstones: Alexandrite, Moonstone, and Pearl
Alexandrite

Moonstone
While Moonstone doesn’t change color, it still has a few tricks up it’s sleeve! Due to the way moonstone grows, different layers of colors and light play throughout the gem, not just on the surface! Moonstones are most often cut as cabochons (i.e. flat backed stones), they can also be faceted to look similar to diamonds but with a ghostly charm and a flash of blue/purple in the light! Moonstone can be worn in a ring, but will hold up much longer in necklaces or earrings. Learn more here.

Pearl
Pearls come in a lot more colors than just white (including black), and a lot more shapes than just round/spheres! Pearls can be worn as the star of a piece of jewelry, or in necklaces/bracelets referred to as a “strand of pearls”. We always recommend pearl strands be knotted (i.e. a knot between each pearl) to both cushion the pearls (stopping them from scratching the nacre layer), and to make sure you don’t lose all your pearls when the strand inevitably breaks due to the abrasive nature of pearls.
